Situated close to the seaside village of Stavros on the Akrotiri, which, because of its numerous churches and monasteries, has been called the âMount Athos of Creteâ, Artemis Village offers tranquil holidays âfar from the madding crowdâ. Each apartment has wonderful views, either of the mountains or over the cove of Stavros to the Aegean Sea beyond. It was at the wonderful sandy beach of Stavros, with its cool, clear water, that many of the scenes of the internationally acclaimed film Zorba the Greek were filmed, including the famous syrtaki dance, with Antony Quinn and Alan Bates.
